Schöneck sits between the Kaiser and Fichtel mountains and the Thuringian forest. At 800 metres above sea level, Schöneck is the highest village in the Vogt region – right in the centre of the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains). Schöneck is known as the “balcony of the Vogt region” and offers a panoramic view over the central highlands, rising to a height of 2,000 meters. Schöneck and the neighbouring Klingen valley are popular winter sports destinations due to their guaranteed snow. Schöneck is also a great place to set out on the Kammloipe Vogtland/Erzgebirge cross country route along the mountain crests. Schöneck’s location close to the border of Saxony, Bavaria and the Czech Republic (Bohemia) makes it an ideal base for enjoyable day-trips.

Due to renovation work the tropical water park is closed from 19 June 2011 until 03 July 2011.

During this period, a free shuttle to the Elsterado Water Park and Bad Brambach Pool is provided. Hotel guests also receive a free drink when dining in the hotel restaurant as an apology for any inconvenience caused.
